WORK PACKAGES: Drought palaeohydrology and carbon accumulation during the last 1000 years

High-resolution multiproxy analyses of peat archive will provide information on rates of car-bon accumulation over centuries and millennia, change in vegetation and testate amoebae, stable iso-topes from plant macrofossils. Two peat monoliths will be sampled in the field and sub-sampled in a very high (preferably annual) high-resolution that will allow us to correlate obtained time series with the instrumental meteorological data. Subsequently, we will reconstruct hydrology/droughts in the peatland (on the basis of testate amoebae) of the last millennium in aim to reconstruct climate. We will specifically focus on the climate Medieval Warm Period and Little Ice Age.
