WORK PACKAGES: Micrometeorology, carbon accumulation, soil respiration and litter decomposition

A properly designed and maintained measuring system will be realized with automatic recording of data. There will be only few measurements realized manually, e.g. static chamber measurements and litter decomposition.

1) Meteorological, microclimate and hydrological data: radiation balance at the bog surface for determining processes such as evaporation and ground heating, photosynthetic active radiation PAR, air temperature and relative humidity, wind speed and direction, precipitation and snow pack, soil temperature and moisture, groundwater table, continuous electrolytic conductivity in wells.

2) Static chamber gas (CO2) concentration measurements for NEE and net ecosystem uptake and ecosystem respiration estimations.

3) Modified litter bags method. Decomposition of organic matter (various species) will be assessed using this method at different depths.
